nature-reservepark-gardens

A unique medieval royal hunting forest managed by the National Trust, Hatfield Forest offers 404 hectares of ancient woodland, grassland, and a large lake. Families can enjoy walking and cycling trails, den building in the woods, pond dipping by the lake, and feeding the birds. The Forest also hosts seasonal events and has a large picnic area.

Facilities include a café serving hot and cold food, ice cream, and drinks, plus toilets and baby-changing facilities. The car park is pay-and-display (free for National Trust members). There are no formal playgrounds, but the natural environment provides endless opportunities for exploration and imaginative play.

Recommended for children aged 2 and up; younger ones can enjoy the easy, pushchair-friendly paths. Dogs are welcome on leads. Note: some paths can get muddy after rain, so bring wellies.
